The Last Battle

By Jonathan Srock

BOOM! "What was that?" a ghastly essence filled the hall.

"We don't know yet," Satan's main demon stood at his side searching the hall to see what was happening.

They heard marching and then they started to tremble, realizing what was happening. They watched as an army of people came through the hall. Every defense the demons that were on the sides of the hall put up was broken.

"Satan," the main leader of this army started to speak., "For centuries you have twisted the truth. You have fooled the world and made it your domain. You have even attacked God's people with your plagues. We are sent from the Holy One. We're here to tell you that your deceit stops here." Satan looked around at the army. Surely his end was here. The people in the army were dressed in white garments that seemed to glisten and shine. The swords that were sheathed in their belts were lethal to him. The bibles they held in their right hands had golden letters. The torches they carried in their left hands were on fire. A kind of fire he knew well, the fire of God himself: Consuming fire.

All of the sudden a roar was heard. Then a flash of light that made the demons and Satan shriek and hide their eyes. In an instant there was a being there. Satan's arch enemy-Jesus Christ. Jesus stepped forward and continued the conversation of the main leader of the army. "You, my enemy have angered my Father for the last time. I challenge you to a battle. It will be the largest battle ever created and fought. You have seven human years to recruit your army. But I will also be recruiting."

"Seven years?" "Seven."

"What the ... !" Carlton watched as the car in front of him swerved to the right then the left and wrecked on the side of the interstate. That wasn't what was scaring him. What was scaring him was all of the people in the car were drifting right up into the sky! Carlton watched as another car's passengers did the same thing. But someone was still in the car when it wrecked. The person became instantly lifeless. Carlton looked straight up into the light. Strange. The thing he saw in the light. Such loving eyes. But who's?

Carlton thought of this as he pulled into his driveway a little later that day. For about the blinking of an eye, he had seen so much compassion. As if whoever was staring at him in that millisecond wanted so bad for him to join the other people going up in the air to him.

"Wow!" Carlton said as his phone started to ring. He picked it up and answered, "Yes!"

A low voice answered, "C-man. Tonight. 8:15. The Boss wants us to meet. Bring Your gun."

"Okay." Carlton's voice going to an automatic whisper.

The other man, instead of say goodbye said, "Glory to the Dragon!" and then silence as the phones were disconnected.

What did this mean? Carlton knew exactly what it meant. It was his gang's code for FIGHT. But it wasn't meaning that in this case. In this case it meant that there was trouble in the group that would be dealt with. And he needed to bring his gun.

It was 8:10. Carlton was sitting in the back alley where they normally net. His gang was called the Dragon Worshipers. It consisted of about ten people. They were all dangerous.

"Hey, C-man. How are yea?" a man walked up to him with a rifle cradled in his arms.

"Hey, Snake." Carlton answered, "I'm doing fine; but I saw something today. People were wrecking their cars all over the road. I almost wrecked myself."

The man put his index finger to his lips and hissed, "Shhh. That's what the meeting's about." "Oh." Carlton fell silent.

The rest of the gang arrived. Then the "Dragon" entered. It was actually a man who they thought to be a real dragon but he fooled them all. Of course, it is hard to tell with his size and costume. "Brothers," he started the meeting with his usual raspy voice for added effect, "Something has come to our attention. How many of you were in your cars today and saw it? People rising into thin air."

The whole gang raised their hands. "Well, I hope you got a good look because those people are demons. 1, the Great Dragon, have sent them away for our purposes. We are now free of them!" Carlton, along with the rest of the group cheered.

"This was the important message I had for you. Go in war with the enemy and go in victory," the Dragon disappeared.

Carlton got home in a few minutes after the meeting. He felt terrible. Though he was told the demons were gone, he felt that they were still there. Then he sat down and began to ponder the situation. He began to speculate the happenings of the day. He was not sure he believed the Dragon. It was those caring eyes he could not shake off.

"This is terrible!" Carlton raged. "My whole gang, gone. They abandoned me!" he yelled with madness in his eyes and tears running down his cheeks. "I should have listened to me, not the Dragon.

Three years of turmoil had passed and Carlton was, for the first time in his life, alone. The gang had abandoned him. They did not tell him where they were going. They were traitors! He went home and threw his gun away. He also threw his membership card away. He wanted no part of them.

Then, as he was throwing his dragon stuff+ away, he heard a scratching sound on his door. He went to go and see who it was.

There was a young man, probably his age 17, standing at the door. The young man immediately said as he looked Carlton over, "Sorry wrong house." And as he turned and started to walk away, Carlton yelled, "No! Wait!"

The man turned around and said, "Yes?"

Carlton walked down the steps and said to him, "You are different. Are you in a gang or organization of some sort?"

The man smiled, "Gang-no. Organizaation-yes."

Carlton looked interested, "What is it called and what does it stand for?" The man sat on Carlton's porch. Carlton also said, "First of all, are you looking for a new place to be or new friends?" The man seemed proud of what he was about to tell him.

"Yes. My old friends left without telling me where they were going."

The man seized the opportunity and started talking, "The organization I am in is a Christian one. We were left behind by God to seek more people. It is called the Freedom Fighters. We specialize in showing love to people like you."

"You mean abandoned people who think that they have been lied to for years by their so-called friends?"

"Those are the ones."

Carlton also seized the opportunity to make new friends that he hoped would not leave him.

"What do I have to do to join?"

"Well, the first thing you have to do is know that Jesus is the Lord of all. Then you have to accept him as the king of your life. Finally you have to confess all of the bad deeds you have done to him and let him live in you."

The man and Carlton prayed together. Carlton accepted Jesus into his heart and life. In turn, the man taught him about the Bible-God's Word. He also gave Carlton a calendar full of events and when the group would meet. Then he told Carlton about himself.

"My name is Tim. I am a Christian who was left behind. I am glad I found you. Just remember that what the Dragon said is wrong. Those were Christians going up in the sky to be with our Jesus."

"Trust me. I don't believe what he said because at the time of the Rapture or the second coming of Jesus I saw Jesus staring into my eyes. I will never forget that look. There was so much compassion in those eyes for me." Carlton said.

Carlton and Tim went on to be best friends and grew in the fullness of God. Their ministry also grew. They became the President and Vice- President of the Freedom Fighters.

"Man, if you knew what a big mistake you're making, you would listen. But I am not going to force anyone to listen to the truth," Carlton was speaking with the "Dragon" who had fooled him earlier in his life. The man slammed the door in his face. He knew the time was short until Jesus came for them.

"Hey! There is a Christian over there! Get him!" Carlton heard a man yell and then he saw the crowds coming after him.

Tim was right next to him a second later. "Be careful my friend! "I will."

Then they were separated in the riot of sinners who happened to be Carlton's old gang and old friends. Carlton and Tim met again.

The Dragon began speaking to them both. "You are demons. White demons. Die White Demons."

Carlton spoke out before the Dragon raised his gun. "No. You are wrong. You were once my gang leader but you all lied to my. You all abandoned me. Wrong move. You almost had me on your side. But there is one thing else you did wrong," Carlton yelled with tears in his eyes,

"There is compassion at the seat of Christ!"

The Dragon pointed a finger at the two of them and said, "Fire!"

The person holding the gun targeted at them lifted his gun but didn't shoot it. "Sir, I saw that same compassion. I can't kill innocent men."

"Fine! I will!" another man stepped out and fired his gun twice.

But it did not hurt Tim and Carlton. Instead it bounced off of the shield put around them by God. God came down in all of his splendor and glory and said, "Take heart what you see. These two have been found spotless in my name. Therefore, I will protect them all of the days of their life." Then He pointed a finger at Satan and said, "The time of tribulation is over. Behold the battle is at hand." And with that all of the saints who had been left were taken up and were on the earth no more.

Once in heaven, Tim and Carlton were surrounded by their brothers and misters. They met Jesus face to face and hugged Him. Carlton looked into those eyes of compassion and he said to Jesus, "You knew I would change. Thank you Lord for sparing a wretch like me!"

They were gathered on the field face to face. God called over Carlton and said, "This brother has known both sides and he is on our side. He will be chosen to write down all of the things done. This is so that you can realize what a coward the evil ones have for a leader. Let the victory of this battle be unto the Lord your God.

Then God turned his back as the evilness approached the field. Satan cried out, "Where is the one who is to be mine? Where is the Christ?"

The battle began but Jesus was not there. People fell like flies. The battle raged on until nightfall. It looked like the evil side was winning and the last righteous one fell. The Devil roared with victory.

God spoke, "The battle is not over. There is one who has not arrived yet. One who's blood is so pure you can't stand in front of him, you coward!"

"He is not here. He is the coward!" the devil shrieked.

Then all at once the ground shook as demons began to fall. A light illuminated the darkness of the night. Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God, came down onto the battlefield. As Hid holy feet touched the ground the demons roared with pain.

Satan shrieked back and then fell to the ground when Christ rose his hands. He said in a loud voice so that both sides could hear, "If any evil person who is present here tonight can get up off of the ground the battle will continue."

Then He raised his hands to the sky and all of the righteous ones stood. When He dropped his hands every evil thing would not and could not move.

"No. Al can't end like this! I'm not even able to come close to matching his power!" the Devil yelled in pain.

Jesus pointed a finger at him and raised an open hand. With that hand Satan's whole being was raised off of the ground.

Then Jesus said, "And the God of Peace will soon crush Satan under your feet!" With this said he pulled his arm back as if to throw and then followed through with that same action. Satan was thrown out of the battle to a far off place. Hell.

The evil ones-half ran and half crawled out of the battle and were also thrown with him into the pit of Hell.

The righteous one roared in victory and repeated, "The victory is the Lord's!" As everyone fell to their knees before the Lord Almighty, Carlton prayed, "Thank you, Lord, for showing me the true savior.

"We don't know yet," Satan's main demon stood at his side searching the hall to see what was happening.

They heard marching and then they started to tremble, realizing what was happening. They watched as an army of people came through the hall. Every defense the demons that were on the sides of the hall put up was broken.
