Red Crucifixion, Black Resurrection

By Jonathan Srock

Wild rampant violence in the streets
Claim a life or two or three
What or who will we now be?
For this we’ve given their defeats

Handed to them on their silver platters
They want our coveted obedience
But we will fight and win dominance
They will fall and pay with their lives

So now that we’re happy,
What is left to do?
What’s our reason for existence?
Discomfort, dissatisfaction, disdain

Gentle outlawed chattering in the home
Give an ear or two or three
We’ve become slaves of ourselves
In this we’ve given up our right

Wild rampant violence in the streets
Claim a life or two or three
What or who will we now be?
For this we’ve given their defeats

Handed to them on their silver platters
They want our coveted obedience
But we will fight and win dominance
They will fall and pay with their lives

So now that we’re happy,
What is left to do?
What’s our reason for existence?
Discomfort, dissatisfaction, disdain

When on earth will we cease?
How on earth can we stop?
Where on earth will peace begin?
Why on earth should we stop?
