My Conflict With Conflict

By Jonathan Srock

War is the thing that never ends
It never sleeps and never feels
The pain and joy inside its fence
The lives and souls war then conceals

Conflict is king and man gives all
To war its fill of life for life
Men will not cease or end its call
But forever exist in strife

Man thinks himself a noble soul
To give his all to his belief
Without which he has played the fool
And sold himself to that old thief

And so man dies and in his sleep
Believes worthwhile the price he paid
Yet once again his soul to keep
To precious war, his price will fade

And so you say give unto war
Without a thought for your neighbor
But be forewarned and therefore pause
Our very lives for conflict's cause
